Sony cameras – remove 30 minute record limit

So I stumbled across this awesome “hack” that is super easy and noninvasive  to the camera system. Apparently the camera’s operating system is built on Android, making it easy to create custom apps. Someone by the alias of  Ma1co created this awesome add-on feature.

This add-on will be extremely useful for me as I shoot a ton of weddings. No more worry about restarting cameras!

1. Install this web app to the computer: https://sony-pmca.appspot.com/plugin/install
2. Set you USB Connection mode to MTP
3. Connect your cameras USB cable to computer
4. Select OpenMemories Tweak: https://sony-pmca.appspot.com/apps
5. Click install
6. When the install is complete disconnect your camera, go to the applications menu, select The OpenMemories Tweak app, go to video settings and disable the 30 minute recording voila!
